One Sick 61

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

Years ago, Jaime Alvarez seized the opportunity to acquire a 1961 Chevrolet Impala when his brother Tony considered selling it. Even though the ride was mostly complete when he got his hands on it, it did not mean it was up to par as his official "Sunday Driver. In order to meet his guidelines, the 61 had to make many stops at various shops. The 61 was dropped off with Jim Picetti, the mechanic that gave Jaime’s ride the dependability it needed to drive to the next stop on his checklist. While at the shop the original 283 received some performance mods & swell as chrome dress up items. Fresh out the performance garage, the Bubble Top was driven to Jim Aliche @ the paint shop. The result was High Gloss Enamel Black paint on a straight body that mimicked the reflection of a mirror. Red Trim accented the black mirror effect. Now that the 61 was fresh out the performance garage & wet out the booth, it was off to the interior specialist. Friend Mike Cabrera made sure the interior & trunk were flamed up in order to set off the exteriors red trim. Last words from Jaime "BIG thanks to my wife Eva for being supportive and my son Daniel for motivating me" & " Thanks to my brother Tony for giving me the chance to buy the car from him."
